A few months ago, a case of extortion of Rs 34 crore from the vault of ICICI Bank located in MIDC area of Dombivli came to light. Now the police has succeeded in arresting the mastermind of this case. Actually the accused Altaf Shaikh was working as Cash Custodian Manager in this bank. He planned to rob the bank's vault a year ago to get rich quickly and for which he watched the 'Money Heist' web series. After watching the web series, he made a master plan and prepared a complete plan of how money is robbed from the bank's vault.
One day he saw the AC repair work next to the safe room of the bank and he started planning from here. He first studied the loopholes in the security system and then collected the necessary material for the robbery. He broke the bank's alarm on July 9, a holiday, robbed Rs 34 crore from the vault by removing the hard disks of all the cameras. He threw the money through the hole in the AC duct on a tarpaulin tied behind the bank building.

🔸Bank security flaws detected

After grabbing the money, he informed the senior officers of the bank about the missing CCTV DVR. After this a team was called to the bank to check the money of the vault. While the bank's investigation was going on, he gave 12 crores out of 34 crores stolen from the vault of the bank to his three friends Qureshi, Ahmed Khan and Anuj Giri. After this he wrote a report of theft in the police station.
🔸Accused arrested
However, the police investigated the matter for a long time and finally arrested all the three accused and seized cash worth Rs 5 crore from them. Based on the information received from him, after two and a half months, the bank's cash custodian manager Altaf Shaikh was also arrested from Pune. At present, the police have recovered Rs 9 crore so far.
