A 16-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and gang raped by three persons, two of whom she knew, earlier this month after they took her in a car to Gurugram from south-west Delhi's Va- sant Vihar, police officers said on Friday.
All three accused, aged 23, 25 and 35, have been ar rested and the car has been seized. The 25-year-old was the minor's boyfriend, pol ice said. The trio worked as private cab drivers.
The victim, a Class X stu dent at a government school, and the accused re side in the same locality.
According to annual data released by Delhi Police ear lier this year, in over 98.7% of rape cases, the accused were known to the victim - a family member, friend,neighbour or relative.
DCP (South West) Manoj C. said they received a PCR call around 4 a.m. at Vasant Vihar police station on Fri day. The caller, the victim's father, said around 8.30 p.m. on July 6, his daughter had left from Vasant Vihar in a vehicle with three persons and returned the next morn ing around 7 a.m. "She re ported the incident to her parents in the evening, after which they took her to hos pital," the DCP said.
The minor, during counselling, said two of the accused, previously known to her, had met her near the Vasant Vihar market and offered a joyride. The third accused came with the vehicle and all four went to Mahipalpur nearby where they bought and had liquor. "They then drove to Gurugram and two of the boys raped her inside the car in a secluded area," the DCP said.
A police officer said be fore dropping the victim at her place on July 7, all four had breakfast at a road side stall. The victim tried to de fend her boyfriend in her statement before a magis trate, saying he only kissed her while the other two raped her. A case under the relevant sections of the POCSO Act, and Sections 376D (gang rape) and 363 (punishment for kidnap ping) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against all three on July 7.
"There are no external injuries on the victim or the accused. Further investigation is under way," the DCP said
