In India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch 5-G services at the India Mobile Congress to be held at Pragati Maidan in Delhi on October 1. Launching 50 tastebands at TRAI's Silver Jubilee function today, the Prime Minister said that he is proud to have the opportunity to dedicate 56 tastebands developed in the country to the nation. This is an important step towards self-reliance of critical and advanced technologies in the telecom sector. Due to the launch of this testbed, 5-6 services can be started in the country. The largest telecommunication media and technical forum in Asia will be launched on October 1st from 5-9 by the Prime Minister. The government has set a target of 80 percent coverage for 5-G operators soon. With the activation of 5-G, users will get 10 times internet speed. IMC is jointly organized by Department of Telecommunication and Cellular Operators Association of India.
5G is the 5th generation mobile network. It is a new global wireless standard after 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G networks. 5G enables a new kind of network that is designed to connect virtually everyone and everything together including machines, objects, and devices.
✒️In telecommunications, 5G is the fifth-generation technology standard for broadband cellular networks, which cellular phone companies began deploying worldwide in 2019, and is the planned successor to the 4G networks which provide connectivity to most current cellphones. 5G networks are predicted to have more than 1.7 billion subscribers worldwide by 2025, according to the GSM Association.
✒️On March 6, 2020, the first-ever all-5G smartphone Samsung Galaxy s20 was released. According to Business insider, the 5G feature was showcased as more expensive in comparison with 4G; the line up starts at US$1,000, in comparison with samsung Galaxy s10e which started at US$750. On March 19, HMD Global, the current maker of Nokia-branded phones, announced the Nokia 8.3 5G, which it claimed as having a wider range of 5G compatibility than any other phone released to that time. The mid-range model, with an initial Eurozone price of €599, is claimed to support all 5G bands from 600 MHz to 3.8 GHz.
✒️Many phone manufacturers support 5G.Apple iPhone 12 and later versions support 5G. Google Pixel phones support it, since version 5a.
🪶What about "6G"
👉In telecommunications, 6G is the sixth generation standard currently under development for wireless communications technologies supporting cellular data network. It is the planned successor to 5G and will likely be significantly faster. Like its predecessors, 6G networks will probably be broadband cellular networks, in which the service area is divided into small geographical areas called cells. Several companies (Keysight, nokia,Ericsson,Huawei, samsung,LG, Apple,Xiaomi), as well as several countries (China,India,Japan and singapore), have shown interest in 6G networks.
🪶6G networks are expected to exhibit even more heterogeneity (be even more diverse) than their predecessors and are likely to support applications beyond current mobile use scenarios, such as virtualand argumented reality (VR/AR), ubiquitous instant communications, pervasive intelligence and the Internet of Things. It is expected that mobile network operators will adopt flexible decentralized business models for 6G, with local spectrum licensing, spectrum sharing, infrastructure sharing, and intelligent automated management underpinned by mobile edge computing, artificial intelligence (AI), short-packet communication and blockchain technologies.
