Information about the disease:
Lumpy skin disease is a viral infectious disease of small and large dairy cattle. Which is spread from one animal to another by mosquito, fly or wasp. Infected cattle often clear up on their own within two to three weeks, but economic losses are caused by reduced milk production of affected cattle. The death rate of animals in this disease is also low, but since the rate of infection is high, it is very important to prevent the disease.
Symptoms of the disease:-
🔹In this disease there is fever for 2 to 3 days.
🔹Hard round nodules appear on the animal's body which extend deep into the skin and often into the muscle.
🔹Swelling is seen in the mouth, inside of the throat (respiratory system), lymph nodes and in the legs of the affected animal.
🔹The affected animal has watery nose and eyes and drooling.
🔹Sometimes one eye of the animal turns white.
🔹The milk production of the affected animal decreases and infertility is observed in the animals.
🔹Sometimes the animal also dies.
What should be treated to prevent lumpy skin disease.........
🔹Confinement of affected animals separately from other animals, keeping the place of confinement free of fleas, mosquitoes.
🔹Separate food and water for infected animals. Avoid taking animals for grazing in the affected area.
🔹Spray animal housing or enclosures with disinfectants like ether-20%, formalin 1%, sodium hypochlorite 2 to 3%.
🔹Smoke bitter neem leaves in places where animals are housed or tied
treatment:-
💉Inj. Antibiotic (OTC-LA 1 ml/10 kg b.wt./Benzathine 50,000 IU per kg body weight)
💉Inj Antihistamin
💉Inj. Analgesic antipyretic
💉Inj. Ivermectin (1ml / 50 * kgb.wt)
💉Autoblood therapy
💉Oint. Pendistrin SH locally in eye if corneal opacity observed.
💉Banas Shital scht morning and Evening for 3 days
external therapy:-
Ingredients: Calendula leaves one radish, garlic ten cloves, bitter neem leaves one handful and coprael or mustard 500ml, henna leaves one handful, turmeric 20 grams and tulsi leaves one handful.
Method of making the mixture:- After heating the mixture of the above items and cooling down, apply it on the body of the animal wearing gloves.
